Pick a series to see sheet dimensions in millimetres and inches, or convert a paper weight between GSM and the pound figures printers use for bond, text and cover stock. Both feed the grams-per-sheet number at the bottom.

Because lb weight is a basis weight — the ream weight (500 sheets) of a category's uncut basis sheet size — and each category (bond/writing, text/book, cover/cardstock) uses a different basis size. GSM is just grams per square metre, so the same GSM lands on a different lb number depending which category you pick. This page converts each category with its own basis-size factor, not one universal number.
A-series (A0–A10) is the everyday print series — A4 is a standard document page. B-series sits between A sizes and is mostly used for posters, books and passports. C-series is sized to fit A-series sheets as envelopes — a C4 envelope fits an unfolded A4 sheet. All three share the same 1:√2 aspect ratio and halve in area at each step.
No. Letter, Legal and Tabloid come from a separate ANSI series with fixed inch dimensions, not derived from halving a base sheet by √2. That's why a Letter page and an A4 page are close in size but not identical, and why scaling one to the other leaves different margins.
Grams per sheet equals the sheet area in square metres multiplied by the paper's GSM. A4 is 0.0623 square metres, so 80 gsm A4 works out to about 4.99 g per sheet. Pick a size above, or type a custom one, and a weight, to get the figure.
