Cookies Policy

How we use cookies and similar technologies

Cookies Policy

Effective: 27 October 2026

This Cookies Policy explains how MultiSwitch uses cookies and similar technologies on multiswitch.app. It should be read with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

We operate from New Zealand. There is no New Zealand statute that requires a cookie pop-up in the same way as the EU ePrivacy rules. If you are in the EEA or UK, those rules may still apply to you. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser and the opt-outs below.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include pixels, local storage and scripts that remember a choice or measure a visit. Some cookies are first-party (set by us). Some are third-party (set by Google or others).

2. What we use

Essential

Needed for the site to work. These include:

  • Security and delivery cookies set by Cloudflare
  • On-device local storage for tool inputs, recent conversions and language or display preferences
  • PWA / “Save as App” storage so the installed app can load

The Service cannot function properly without these. They are not used to advertise to you.

Analytics (non-essential)

Where Google Analytics is enabled, Google may set cookies to understand how the site is used (pages, approximate location from IP, device type, referrals). This helps us improve the Service. Google’s policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising (non-essential)

Google AdSense may set cookies to show ads, measure whether they were shown or clicked, and (where allowed) personalise ads based on other sites you have visited. Manage this at Google Ads Settings and youronlinechoices.com (EU) or aboutads.info (US).

3. Third-party tools you invoke

Some calculators request data from third parties when you use them (currency rates, dictionary and thesaurus lookups). Those requests go through our servers where we proxy them. They are not advertising cookies, but the provider will see the lookup (for example the word you searched).

4. How long they last

  • Session: deleted when you close the browser
  • Persistent: remain until they expire or you delete them (Google advertising cookies can last many months)
  • Local storage: stays until you clear site data

5. How to control cookies

  • Our cookie banner: shown automatically to visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland before any advertising script loads. Choose Accept or Reject non-essential — your choice is stored on your device and applied on future visits. You can reopen it any time via the small cookie icon in the bottom-left corner of any page.
  • Browser settings: block or delete cookies and site data (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge each have a cookies panel)
  • Google Ads Settings for ad personalisation
  • Google Analytics opt-out add-on
  • Industry opt-out pages listed above
  • Global Privacy Control / “Do Not Sell or Share” signals: email us at hello@multiswitch.app if you want us to record an opt-out of advertising sharing where those laws apply

If you reject non-essential cookies, advertising scripts and cookies are never loaded and ad slots stay empty — this is enforced by the site itself, not just a preference we ask ad platforms to respect. If you block all cookies at the browser level too, some features (including Save as App and remembered preferences) may also break.

6. EEA and UK visitors

Where ePrivacy and GDPR/UK GDPR apply, we rely on:

  • Essential cookies: our legitimate interest in running a secure site, and/or strictly necessary processing
  • Analytics and advertising cookies: your explicit consent, captured through the cookie banner described above before any such script loads. We detect whether this applies to you using your connection's country, not any personal account or identity data.

You can withdraw consent at any time using the cookie icon in the bottom-left corner of any page, or by clearing your site data. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing before you withdrew consent.

7. Changes and contact

We will update this page if our cookies change in a material way. Questions: hello@multiswitch.app.
