Add everyone in the flat or house. Rent can be split equally, or fairly by bedroom size — with a share you choose for the kitchen, lounge and bathroom split equally. Bills can be split equally or by how many days each person was living there during the bill period.
| Person | Rent | Bills | Total |

Rent by room size splits rent into two parts. The shared part (kitchen, lounge, bathroom, garden), set by the percentage you choose, is divided equally between everyone. The rest is divided in proportion to bedroom floor area. With 900 rent, 40% shared and bedrooms of 14, 11 and 9 m²: 360 is shared (120 each) and 540 is split 14 : 11 : 9 — so 222.35, 174.71 and 142.94, giving 342.35, 294.71 and 262.94.
Bills by days charges each person for the share of “person-days” they were there. If someone was away for 10 days of a 30-day bill, they pay for 20 days while the others pay for 30.
Totals are rounded to cents, with any leftover cent added to the first person so the shares add up exactly.
Pick a share of the rent for the spaces everyone uses (commonly 30–50%) and split that equally; split the rest in proportion to each bedroom’s floor area. That way someone in a tiny room still pays their fair share of the kitchen and lounge.
Add them as two people with half the room size each, so they share the bedroom portion but each pay a full share of the common spaces — or as one person with the whole room if you’ve agreed they pay one share.
Use “by days each person was there”. Enter the number of days in the bill period and how many days each person lived there; the bill is split by person-days.
Increase that room’s size by the ensuite’s area (or a bit more) so it attracts a larger share of the rent.
Yes — any unit works for room sizes, as long as everyone’s rooms use the same unit; only the proportions matter.
